Wow, what an experience! Sometimes learning what to put on the pre-event checklist comes the hard way...I hope it turned out ok. Thanks for your comment! - Ken

Reminds me of showing up years ago to do a two-day training for an agency in a far city. With no lead time before the early start to set up I turned to their massive bank of audio-visual electronics and wall-to-wall flat screens......to find that none of it accepted anything Mac. Only PC was used by this agency. I won't tell you which system I had...

Checking the venue ahead of time and even doing a test run of your gear is a great way to help make sure things run smoothly - you were smart to run some checks! Things just tend to go much better when you start with the perspective of the audience in mind.

Thanks for your comment!

Preparation in a new venue is SOOO important. I remember one presentation where we found out the internet connection on stage was almost non-existant and because of pre-testing, we were able to create a non-internet presentation just in time.

I also remember attending a presentation where the information was great, but the speaker went HUGELY overtime, was speaking above the level of the audience and was so monotone that even those who were truly interested were falling asleep.

Thanks for the great presentation tips. I'll be checking my next presentation against those standards!
